Are you tired of boring, neutral eco-friendly products? Made by Laura sews quality items for everyday life with a focus on being colourful and good for the environment. I sell a number of reusable items to replace single use alternatives such as paper towels, dryer sheets, cotton rounds and produce bags. I also upcycle old clothing into new bags and hair accessories. Made by Laura also uses recyclable packaging so you have another reason to feel good about the purchases you’re making. Taking care of the environment is important but so is taking care of yourself which is why we have several therapy wraps to soothe muscles, headaches or tired eyes.
I love pets, too! Our sister brand, K9 West is all about your furry friends. Whether it’s dressing them up in reversible bandanas, bow ties or flowers, or making walk time easier with clip on waste bag dispensers and treat bags, K9 West has you covered. I also know the importance of play which is why I make toys that squeak and crinkle to keep your pets entertained for hours.

My Story
Ever since I was a little girl I have loved creating anything and everything!
I grew up painting pictures, making crafts and when I was eleven years old, sewing doll clothes.
From a young age I recognized that if there was something out there in the world that I wanted, I could make it for myself.
As I started High School I expanded my sewing skills and started making my own clothes. Soon my friends recognized my skills and I started making things for them as well.
After years of sewing for family and friends I decided in 2019 to start an actual business and bring what I love to the world. My growth hasn’t stopped though! I’m constantly improving on what I know, learning new skills and listening to you, my customers, to bring you great new products.
While I was still exploring the things I wanted to create my aunt suggested I make bandanas for dogs that slide over the collar so they won’t fall off. Halen was more than happy to be my test subject. 5 years later he has more bandanas than I can count and gets upset when you try to take them off! I quickly decided that I wanted to keep the dog accessories separate and so I dug up the name K9 West.
Our Names
I mentioned that I used to create all kinds of things growing up, well I used to dream of a store where everything inside was made by me. I would call the store Made by Laura. I know now it’s not very original but the name still reminds me of that little girl full of hopes and dreams so I think I’ll stick with it.
K9 West has more of an interesting story. Back in 2010 I was managing a coffee shop and one of my employees was getting a new puppy they were going to name Yoda. She asked if I would make the puppy a Jedi robe. How could I refuse? I wish I had a picture because it turned out pretty well, even if I do say so myself. She then joked that I should start a line of dog clothing. I agreed replying that I could call it Pucchi, instead of Gucci, or K9 West, instead of Nine West. 10 years later when I did in fact start creating dog accessories, I felt K9 West was the better choice.
